SBP advises the general public to not respond to fake calls seeking account information.

An alert warning for the general public has been issued by the State Bank of Pakistan on Sunday. As per this alert, SBP has warned the general public about the unscrupulous elements that are making phone calls to collect account holders’ information.

SBP has come to the knowledge about the unscrupulous elements that make phone calls to the general public, impersonating themselves as representatives of SBP and other agencies, and they try to seek personal information regarding their deposit accounts on the pretext that SBP is collecting information from banking customers in light of emergency declared in the country due to COVID-19.

In some cases, it has also occurred that the fraudsters ask the information claiming to ensure the smooth functioning of the accounts in case of the unavailability of ATM services.

As per the sayings of the central bank, SBP never seeks details of account holders of any banks and all such calls made on the behalf of SBP are none other than a hoax and the intention behind this is fraudulent.

SBP has advised the public to no response to any such calls and provide any information.

Also, the public is advised to report such calls to their respective banks immediately.

The public can also report such calls to SBP helpline at 021-111-727-273 (during business hours) or at email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
